Gastronomic Tour of Mexico
On this food-focused tour, you will discover authentic Mexican cuisine at markets, family restaurants, street food stalls, and indigenous farms. However, the itinerary is not all about food: the schedule includes visits to archaeological sites and other places of interest, including the pyramids of Teotihuacán and the colonial city of Puebla.
Welcome to Mexico!
Upon arrival a transfer will take you to your accommodation. After checking into your hotel, you will have free time to rest. Then go for a stroll through the historic centre or explore the neighbourhoods of Roma and Condesa, full of art galleries, cafés, shops, bars, and restaurants.
Visit Teotihuacán and Basilica Of Our Lady of Guadalupe
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up to take you to the majestic archaeological site of Teotihuacán. Located a short drive from downtown Mexico City, the so-called City of the Gods is an ancient city that was the largest and most influential in the history of the New World. Climb the Pyramid of the Sun and the Moon and visit the temples and palaces. On your way back, you will visit the Basilica Of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the most visited Catholic temple in the world after the Vatican.
Gastronomic walking tour
Today, your guide will pick you up after breakfast for a special tour to Puebla to try the typical antojitos (Mexican snacks). First you will visit a tamalería (a tamale shop) and then a shop dedicated to snacks. Your third stop will be at a taquería to try different types of tacos. Along the way, you will see religious monuments along the pedestrianized streets. Continue to Fonda de Santa Clara to try their delicious sweets. Being located on Calle de los Dulces (Candy street), you will have the opportunity to visit the oldest confectionery in the city, La Gran Fama, where you will find traditional sweets and condiments.
Next, you will arrive at the oldest tavern in the city, La Pasita, and taste its famous liquor de pasita (raisin liquor). Finish the tour with flan in one of the most traditional restaurants in Puebla, to try its famous flan. You will spend the night in a hotel in Puebla.
City of Oaxaca
Travel between four and five hours to reach the city of Oaxaca, one of the most famous gastronomic destinations in Mexico. You will have the day at leisure to explore the city on your own and dine in the Patio de Los Danzantes, a respected local restaurant. Spend the night in a hotel in the historic centre.
Oaxaca
Today's excursion begins with a visit to an ancient Tule tree: at approximately two thousand years old, it is the largest tree in the world! Continue to Hierve el Agua (Boiling water), an imposing petrified waterfall located in the mountain range, with the option of bathing in its mineral-rich waters.
Conclude your day with a visit to the town of Teotitlán del Valle (the name means "Place of the Gods" in Nahuatl). This small town is famous for its crafts. Shop, walk, and learn more about the region's tequila-making process before resting for the night at your Oaxaca hotel.
Cooking class
With your guide, you will tour a Zapotec community in the Valley of Oaxaca. Take a cooking class at a local family home and learn how to prepare a variety of local dishes and delicacies that incorporate ingredients such as chili and cocoa.
Later that day, catch a flight to Mexico City from the Oaxaca airport. You will have one last night in town before your trip home the next day.
